Project Background
AEC delivered the refurbishment of an existing science laboratory as part of the college’s wider estate improvement programme, transforming an outdated teaching space into a modern, fully equipped facility designed to support the delivery of T Level Health & Science courses.
Works included a full internal refurbishment with a revised layout to better support practical teaching, alongside the introduction of dedicated preparation and storage areas. The upgraded laboratory was designed to meet current safety standards and modern teaching requirements, ensuring the space supports both staff and students during practical learning activities.
Delivered alongside the development of a new Engineering & Manufacturing T Level Green Skills Hub at the same college, the improvements form part of a wider investment in specialist technical education facilities. Sustainable design measures were also integrated as part of the scheme, supporting the college’s wider net zero ambitions.
Original Office Space
The existing room was previously used as office accommodation and was not suited to specialist teaching. The space required full refurbishment and reconfiguration to support the delivery of modern science education.
Refurbished Science Laboratory
The refurbished laboratory provides a modern teaching environment with specialist workstations, upgraded services and improved lighting, creating a practical and flexible space for science learning.
