Project Background
AEC delivered the refurbishment of the nursery block at Chantry Primary Academy, with project funding successfully secured through the School-Based Nursery Capital Grant (SBN). The project transformed undersized and outdated spaces into modern, inclusive early years facilities.
Works included the refurbishment of internal play areas, WCs, kitchen point and associated nursery rooms, alongside the creation of new facilities including a sensory space, meeting room and dedicated infant WC provision. Fixed furniture and associated electrical installations were also introduced to support the upgraded learning spaces.
Fire safety improvements included the installation of new 30-minute fire-rated doors, glazing screens and partitions to form toddler WC facilities with new cubicles and sanitaryware. Structural alterations were undertaken to remove a load-bearing wall and improve the internal layout.
Externally, extended fencing and resurfacing works were completed, including the installation of soft play surfaces to create a safe and engaging outdoor play environment for nursery pupils.
