Project Background
The school lacked a dedicated food technology facility, limiting its ability to deliver key elements of the Key Stage 3 curriculum. AEC undertook a feasibility review to identify suitable conversion opportunities, with the preferred option being the transformation of an existing technology classroom into a specialist food technology teaching space.
The project involved reconfiguring the room to accommodate specialist catering equipment, alongside the installation of compliant ventilation and extraction systems, new electrical and plumbing services, dedicated storage, and durable finishes appropriate for a food preparation environment.
The completed facility meets BB103 area requirements for 20–22 students and now enables the school to deliver the full cooking and nutrition curriculum. Students can benefit from a modern, well-equipped space that supports practical, hands-on learning and skill development.
