AEC supports successful outcomes in latest School-Based Nursery (SBN) funding round
Funding & Bid Director
The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed the outcome of the latest School-Based Nursery (SBN) capital funding round, marking a significant expansion of early years provision across England.
Expanding nursery provision where it’s needed most
Recent announcements indicate that 331 schools have been approved for funding, sharing a £45 million investment to create or expand nurseries. The programme is expected to deliver over 6,000 additional childcare places, with a focus on areas where access to early years provision is most limited.
This builds on earlier phases of the SBN programme, which have already supported around 300 schools with £37 million in funding, creating thousands of new nursery places and forming a key part of the government’s “Best Start” initiative.
AEC is pleased to confirm that it has once again secured vital funding for its clients through this round, helping schools expand early years provision and improve access to high-quality childcare.
This outcome reinforces AEC’s ongoing role in supporting the education sector with funding strategy, bid development, and project delivery, aligned to national priorities for early years expansion.
